Bored dogs

We all have the same problem..how do we keep our pets entertained while we go to work. Toys and bones you can fill with is one easy idea. I've recently been putting his food, and mix with dog treats in a crumbled paper towel roll. He is smart enough not to bite and swallow the roll though.

I've also stuffed Kong toys, with peanut butter, hot dog chunks, semi-soft dog treats, canned dog food, etc. He chews and works at it to get the treat out. If you hide these toys, the dog gets to enjoy the hunt and seek for a reward.

However chewing does not alleviate all boredom, so I give him toys to busy him.

Brushing his own teeth

Oh Donny is growing up so fast! I don't even need to brush his teeth for him.

New level of...well um..I don't know what to call it

Donny wouldn't dare try this in our bathroom! So, Donny goes into my son's bathroom quite often and sniffs the toilet. Well, finally today I caught him licking it. How sick?! So the funny thing is, my son came up with the idea of eating some asparagus and using the bathroom after wards. So then we take Donny back into the bathroom and we observe...but alas no licking. Not sure if he knew we were looking for it, but sure enough he licks once we start to walk away. Oh Donny!

Looking out the window

Why dogs look out the window?
Is it because they run a tight shift as guard dogs, or is there a deeper reason? Well I have some theories:
1. They miss being outside
2. They watch the kids next door play basketball
3. They fantasize "what if" scenarios eg. what if I had a million bones?
4. They wonder how they can catch that pesky cat
5. They wonder if they can drive, they would be able to obtain a million bones

Educational toys for your pup

I went to Longs Drugs, and found this hide and seek chew treat for dogs. Donny has to to move the covers off to find the treat. It's so fun and it challenges your pets to work for their treats.

Puppy crazies

So it seems that the puppy crazies' are something of a mystery. I think I cracked it yesterday after observing Donny's bowel rain dance. Donny does this little dance around before he goes #2, and yesterday he was hit with constipation. As soon as he knew nothing was coming out, he sprinted like crazy around the yard doing the figure 8's.  Unfortunately, he still couldn't push.
Oh Donny!

Our most proudest day has come- Graduation

After 8 weeks of intense puppy training. We came upon that oh so proud dog owner day. I felt like it was my sons graduation as I gushed and took photos. He learned to sit, stay, freeze, wait, and leave it. It was the best 100$ spent. We took the class at a local Pet store and it was worth every penny. They also give you homework along with coupons to use for in-store.Unfortunately he peed on them. Oh Donny.

Meet Donny

Donny is an 18 month old Pom-chi we rescued from the pound, and he loves car rides. While standing on the passenger arm rest, he presses down to lower the window and looks out. He's so zen during these moments.
